Progress in Rhode Island

We have recently had two positive developments in the move away from gas-powered landscaping machines:

Rhode Island will offer a rebate program to help commercial landscapers upgrade to electric leaf blowers. The Office Of Energy Resources is currently working out the details of the program and it should be active by the end of the year.

RIDEM will receive funding to “purchase an 18-foot trailer with an installed charging system for zero-emission battery operated lawn equipment for use in state parks and management areas. The goal is to begin to phase out the use of gasoline-powered lawn equipment and to showcase/pilot the new equipment for municipalities and other agencies.” The funds were awarded by Ec4, The Executive Climate Change Coordinating Council, as part of their 2025 spending plan.
